“What a lot of people don’t understand is, you know, you can’t really do nothing for power. You’re either born with it or you ain’t. It’s like Pacquiao, when he was in smaller weights, he was knocking guys out; when he went up to bigger weights, he was still knocking guys out,” stated undefeated lightweight champion Adrien Broner, who is confident that, much like 8-division world champion Manny Pacquiao, he’ll have no problems with carrying his power up to 147 pounds when he faces WBA welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi.
Broner, who sports an impressive KO percentage of 84.6%, has scored 22 knockouts in 26 fights and he’s positive that trend will continue despite the fact that he’s moving up two weight classes. “It’s just something that God blessed me with. I got power, so it really don’t matter what weight class I’m in. I’m still going to have the same power as I had any weight class I’m in,” Broner explained during a recent conference call to promote the fight.
