Undefeated pound-for-pound king Floyd “Money” Mayweather will earn a record-breaking guarantee for his September 14 showdown with undefeated jr. middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez. According to a source, Mayweather is getting a base purse in excess of $40 million.
Recently named the highest-paid athlete in sports for the second year in a row, Mayweather’s guarantee for this fight will break his own all-time record of $32 million that he previously set when he faced Miguel Cotto in May of 2012. Mayweather then tied that record earlier this month when he faced Robert Guerrero.
