Manny Pacquiao’s world of distractions
Does Manny Pacquiao, the Filipino southpaw buzzsaw, underestimate his July 2nd opponent, Oscar Larios?
That’s the whispered word among those in the biz, and that whisper is getting louder, after word leaked out that the 27-year old Pacquiao (41-3-2, 33 KOs) skipped training on Wednesday, instead choosing to shoot a TV commercial.
Pacquiao’s lackluster training regimen has prompted Golden Boy Promotions chief executive officer Richard Schaefer to predict that Larios, the former two-time super bantamweight champion, “will score a big upset,” reported the Manilla Standard Today.
The bout with the underrated 29-year-old Mexican Larios (56-4-1, 36 KOs) takes place in the Philippines and Pac Man’s WBC International super feather title will be up for grabs.
Freddie Roach, Pacquiao’s trainer, has recently expressed worry that his fighter may be spreading himself too thin, and has vowed to keep him on track.
