CEBUANO prospect Vergilio Silvano is a call away from the big break that he has been working on tirelessly in the gym.
?We are waiting for a call from Japan for the OPBF championship,? Silvano?s trainer Christopher ?Ping-Ping? Tepora told Sun.Star Cebu yesterday. ?We are ready. We are just waiting for the call.?
Silvano is waiting for the go- signal from the Japanese promoters of his Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) light flyweight title fight with reigning champion Shin Ono in Japan.
Silvano, who is the mandatory challenger, was supposed to fight Ono earlier but because an injury the fight was postponed to a later date.
?We should have fought him in March but the Japanese got injured. This is a very important fight for him,? said Tepora.
It indeed is a crucial fight for the heavy-handed 25-year-old because a win could move him up the 108-pound ladder and earn him a slot in the world rankings.
