8CountNews sat down with newly crowned IBF Jr middleweight world champion Ishe Smith and got his thoughts on becoming a world champion. Smith defeated K9 Bundrage capturing the title and at the same time he sent messages to a lot of people. The message that he sent is pretty simple. Promoters, TV networks, and many in the boxing world wrote this guy off. He sat on the shelf. He was, according to many, not promotable.
Floyd Mayweather Jr knew differently and gave Smith an opportunity. Ishe seized that opportunity, and won the biggest fight of his career. Smith told the world that there was a time in the not too far past where he wanted to end his life. He fought through it all, and now he’s a world champion.
