WORLD Boxing Organization (WBO) light flyweight champion Donnie ?Ahas? Nietes said he?s not experiencing jitters two days before his title defense against Mexican Moses Fuentes on Saturday at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu City.
?There?s no pressure at all but of course I can?t be complacent before the fight. So far, I feel comfortable with my physical condition. I?m really excited to fight. I?m sure that kid [Fuentes] goes here to fight,? Nietes, 30, told The Manila Times in a telephone interview.
The Bacolod native Nietes (31-1-3 win-loss card with 17 knockouts) has successfully defended the WBO minimumweight belt four times before he moved up to the light flyweight class. The 27-year-old Fuentes (16-1 with eight KOs) climbed to that weight class to challenge Nietes. Fuentes, the reigning WBO minimum-weight champion said he came to the Philippines to win.
?He [Fuentes] is quick but not quicker than me.
