Just hours after Filipino boxing icon and Sarangani Rep. Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao was knocked out by Juan Manuel Marquez in their bout in Las Vegas, Philippine-based hackers knocked out some Mexican sites, with “vendetta” on their minds.
One such site was defaced with the groups “Pinoy Vendetta and Anonymous Iligan” claiming responsibility for the attack.
“We felt bad when our ‘Pambansang Kamao’ Manny Pacman Pacquiao los(t) the fight against Manuel Marquez but then, we accept it. We accept that he lose the fight. When Marquez los(t) the fight, we respect you but then, in their fourth fight, Pacquiao lose the fight but you didn’t respect us,” read the message on the defaced website.
The defaced site was still live as of 10 p.m. Sunday.
In the message on the defaced site, the hacker group pointed to a trend on Twitter titled “#SufroComoLaEsposaDePacquiao,” which it claimed was an insult to Pacquiao’s wife Jinkee.
“Your fellow Mexicans insulted our PAMBANSANG KAMAO and insulted the FILIPINO PEOPLE. Now, we’re here to stand up and fight for our rights. We are watching on you,” the message read.
“We don’t want to be bullied in our own cyber space. Filipinos don’t want to be bullied. If you want to be respected, respect us or EXPECT US!” it added.
The hackers sent greets to Pinoy Vendetta, Family Pride, Philippine Cyber Army, Anonymous Iligan, Affliction X, Anonymous Hitman, and Patriot of Anarchy.
Not an ‘Anonymous’ operation
But a message posted on the Facebook page of Anonymous #Philippne Cyber Army indicated not all agreed with the hack.
“This hacking spree has been out of hand. #OccupyPhilippines raised when the collective had an idea, an idea to defeat the enemy, the enemy we all share, and that’s the corrupt government system. … Mexican’s getting cocky over the results, fellow Filipino’s getting offended over the reactions. This is a typical situation for any kind of competition and is in no grounds to be an Anonymous operation,” it said.
Another group, #pR.is0n3r, said the attack is not an Anonymous operation.
“Hindi po ito Operation ng Anonymous Philippines … Pasensya na po sa mga sinasabi ko. pag medyo mababaw po ang dahilan at hindi maawat sa pag bira, wag na lang po gamitin ang logo o pangalan ng Anonymous (This is not an operation of Anonymous Philippines. If the cause is shallow, don’t use the Anonymous logo),” ? ELR, GMA News
