Whenever the big fights approach, I like to get out into the streets, bars, clubs, sports lounges, and wherever else I can to talk to boxing fans. Manny Pacquiao is about to square off against his old nemesis Juan Manuel Marquez for a 4th time. All three of their previous fights were close battles.
I spoke to both Marquez fans and Pacquiao fans. Here in Mississippi there’s a growing Filipino population, and a growing Hispanic population as well. It was fun to get both sides, and to hear why and how each side thinks that their guy will defeat the other.

One thing is for certain, both sides for the most part respect the other. Pacquiao fans that I have spoken to all respect JMM, and they all know that he’s a very dangerous opponent. The Hispanic fans that I spoke to all respect Pacquiao. They know that Pacquiao is a beast, and that this fight will be a difficult match for Marquez.
These two men have faced each other enough times that they know how each other fights quite well. I spoke to Ramon Reyna of Jackson, MS and got his thoughts on the fight, ” I want Marquez to win. He’s a Mexican warrior. I have to stick by my blood. I’m Mexican and we stick together. Marquez will defeat Pacquiao. He’s already defeated him, but he just didn’t get the fair decision.” This is what a lot of people believe. Many folks think that Marquez did in fact beat Pacquiao and should have been given the decision, perhaps twice.

I also spoke with some Pacquiao fans. I spoke with Jon Reyes of Meridian, MS. Jon is a big Pacquiao fan. He talked about how he thinks Manny will win, “Manny will show all of the fans that he’s not lost a step. He will beat Marquez, and he will win convincingly this time. There will be no controversy at the end of this fight.”
Pacquiao Vs. Marquez is sure to be a barn burner. They both want to knock each other out, and that should make it a war. I don’t think that this fight will much different than the first 3 fights. It should be a lot of action, but this time both men going for knockouts
