PUNGLUAN SOR SINGYU TO MAKE FIRST DEFENSE OF WBO BANTAMWEIGHT TITLE AGAINST PAULUS AMBUNDA

Pariyakorn Ratanasuban of One Songchai Promotions confirmed recently that Pungluang Sor Singyu was set to make the first defence of his WBO Bantamweight against Namibian Paulus Ambunda.

Sor Singyu won the vacant belt by stopping AJ Banal in the ninth round of their fight in Manila last month. His record currently stands at 43-1 with the only loss of his career a controversial split decision which he dropped to Belgian fighter Stephane Jamoye in 2009.

Ambunda competed as a flyweight in the 2004 Olympics and has a perfect professional record of 19-0. He recently defeated William Prado to claim the WBO International Bantamweight title.

Mrs Ratanasuban was speaking in Singaopore where she witnessed another One Songchai fighter, Chonlatarn Piryapinyo, miss out on the WBA Super Featherweight title after losing a unanimous decision to Chris John.

She said that negotiations were underway to find a suitable venue for Sor Singyu vs Ambunda but that the Thai fighter would have a tune up fight in early 2013 before defending his WBO title against the Namibian.
