BENEDICT Suico is carving out a name for himself the way his more illustrious uncle has blazed a trail for himself.
The youthful Suico disposed of Jojo Rodrigo in the third of their scheduled 10-round action in Rex “Wakee” Salud’s “Discover and Development for Future Boxing Great” Saturday night at the Mandaue City Cultural and Sports Complex.
The 18-year-old Suico, whose uncle, Randy “Kumo’ng Bato” Suico, is one of the strongest punchers in the super-featherweight division, connected with a left-right combination to the body, ending Rodrigo’s misery 21 seconds into the third round.
Referee Tony Pesons counted out the fallen fighter, who was still in pain while on the canvass.

The win will elevate Suico up in the ratings. He is currently ranked the No.5 flyweight contender in the Philippines.
Suico will face another tough contest when he fights Isidro Balabat for 10 rounds at the San Andres Gym in Manila on April 20.
The unbeaten Bonbon Pumar, on the other hand, used his superior skills over the veteran Rolando Toyogon to score a unanimous decision win after eight rounds.
Another unbeaten prot?g? of the RWS stable, Bogie Delada, engaged Rolly Mandohinog in a fisticuff before winning at the 1:35 mark of the third round by technical knockout.
Winners
Rangy fighter Ramil Caballes battered veteran slugger Tata Regatuna, forcing a stoppage in the second round, while Dexter Delada scored a unanimous decision win over Jaime Acerda after 10 rounds.
Other winners were former National Team member Roel Laguna by TKO over Tata Ramuga in the second round, Gedion Amba by TKO over Bobong Valdez in the first round and Jayson Oyao by first-round TKO over Efren Temblor.
The event was supported by boxing icon Manny Pacquiao, Circulan Vitamins, Rep. Butch Pichay, Ching Palace Restaurant, PKL Transport, Blue Blade Call Center and Edison Artcraft.
