Straight from the horse’s mouth. Manny Pacquiao went on ESPN and national TV to quash notions about his reluctance in taking Olympic-style drug testing. Pacquiao told ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith and Skip Bayless that he is willing to take blood and urine sample all the way to the day of the fight and after, just to get in the ring with nemesis Floyd Mayweather, Jr., on top of yielding the bigger purse split to the American boxing superstar.
What Pacquiao should do next is take his claims to the next level and demand for it when he fights Marquez on December 8. Why? Marquez has employed a suspicious character named Guillermo “Memo” Heredia as his strength and conditioning coach, who has helped him bulk up significantly for his third fight with Pacquiao. Heredia was in the middle of the whole Marion Jones and other doping controversies that have raised many eyebrows.
Asking for Olympic-style drug testing will not only help clear Pacquiao’s name of the stench the Mayweathers’ have soiled it in when they tied him to performance enhancing drugs, but it will also do the same for Marquez. And if he is intent in doing such tests for a fight against Mayweather, might as well get used to it now, rather than adjust to it on the fly in the biggest fight of his career.

Victor Conte, another controversial name in the world of anti-doping for his involvement with BALCO has been trying to help clean up boxing by promoting comprehensive random drug testing for fighters, which has caught fighters such as LaMont Peterson and Andre Berto. Conte told this scribe that VADA testing would be essential for a fight like Pacquiao-Marquez 4.
