MANILA, Philippines ? Juan Manuel Marquez doesn?t see himself as a 39-year-old guy who is in the twilight of a Hall of Fame career.
?There is a biological age and (there is a ) chronological (age),? Marquez told the Mexican media during a private function recently as he primes himself up for a fouirth showdown with Manny Pacquiao on Dec. 8 in Las Vegas.
Marquez is so looking forward to the Pacquiao meeting that he is gunning for an outcome that won?t require the scoresheets of the three judges.
?I am looking for a knockout and I am not thinking about a decision,? said Marquez, whose first fight with Pacquiao ended on a split draw and the next two going the Filipino?s way despite him standing his ground and giving his fancied foe a hell of a time.
Both fighters have actually started to report for training with Marquez utilizing old school methods, including wood-chopping, and Pacquiao playing volleyball and showing up for light workout in General Santos City.
Pacquiao?s long-time training assistant Buboy Fernandez has been reviewing Marquez?s fights on video and has put special emphasis on the third fight that Pacquiao won by majority decision.
?I am looking at the way Marquez was stepping on Manny?s foot,? said Fernandez. ?He did it on purpose although it is part of the game so we will try to avoid this in the fourth fight.?
Fernandez noted that Marquez was able to catch Pacquiao when it happened.
However, Fernandez believes there won?t be a fifth fight.
?We?ll get him (Marquez) this time,? added Fernandez.
