Former two-division world champion Gerry Pe?alosa who is now a boxing promoter, has arranged two of his boxers; Michael Fare?as and Dodie Boy Pe?alosa Jr. to fight in the undercard matches of the fourth Manny Pacquiao-Juan Manuel Marquez battle at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on December 8.
Pe?alosa, a good friend of Pacquiao, sealed the deal with the Pacman over the phone this week. Fare?as and Pe?alosa Jr. are currently training with Pacquiao in General Santos City.
Opponents are yet to be identified but Fare?as (34-3-4, 26 knockouts) will fight for 10 rounds and Pe?alosa (9-0, 9 KOs) for eight.
Three months ago, southpaw Fare?as of Sorsogon province had a technical draw with World Boxing Association super featherweight titleholder Takashi Uchiyama in Japan.
The fight was stopped after three rounds because of an accidental headbutt.
On the other hand, this will be Pe?alosa Jr.?s first international fight. The 22-year-old Cebuano is the son of former two-division world titleholder Dodie Boy Pe?alosa Sr. and the nephew of Gerry. He only had 27 fights, but was undefeated in his amateur career. Since turning professional two years ago via a Brian Viloria undercard in Manila, Pe?alosa Jr. is yet to fight a boxer with an impressive winning record.
