This Friday, September 14, former two-division world champion Ricky Hatton will hold a press conference to make a “major announcement”. Although very few details other than the time and location of the press conference were given, it is believed that Hatton will indeed announce his return to boxing. For months now, rumors have been circulating that Hatton was planning to make a comeback. Hatton was said to be in the gym getting in fighting shape, and recent pictures of a fit and trim Hatton released on his official Twitter page confirmed those reports.
As previously reported, Hatton recently held “informal” talks with the British Boxing Board of Control about obtaining a boxing license. In fact, the Manchester Evening News reported that undefeated middleweight Martin Murray could be making an appearance on a planned November 24 Hatton comeback card at the MEN arena. A rematch between Scott Quigg and Rendall Munroe, as well as another Hatton fighter, Anthony Crolla, were also said to be in talks to appear on the card.
FightHype.com will be in attendance at Friday’s press conference, so be sure to check out FIGHTHYPE UK for more information.
