FANS didn?t really have the chance to enjoy Milan Melindo?s stunning victory over Jesus Geles because it was over in a snap. The fight was over in just the first round as the unbeaten Melindo fired away on the former world champion?s midsection until he crumbled to the canvass.
However, in his fight on Sept. 22 at the Waterfront Hotel and Casino in Cebu City, Melindo wants the fans to get their money?s worth and promised that his World Boxing Organization (WBO) International flyweight title defense against ex-world titleholder Jean Piero Perez will last longer and be more entertaining.

?I promise a very exciting bout,? said Melindo in a visit to Sun.Star Cebu yesterday.
Despite Melindo?s ascent in the flyweight division, where he is now rated No. 1 in the WBO, he isn?t taking the 31-year-old Perez for granted because of his credentials.
Perez is a former interim World Boxing Association flyweight titlist and has a 19-4-1 slate with 14 knockouts.
Break
The 24-year-old Cagayan de Oro native assured, though, that his performance in this fight would surely merit him a world title shot.
?I?m not just fighting to win, but I want to impress everyone. It will not be just my opponent that will be shocked, but also the people,? said Melindo, 27-0 with 11 knockouts.
Like their stablemate, Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) flyweight champion Rocky Fuentes and Arthur Villanueva are also looking to impress in their respective fights in the undercard of ?Pinoy Pride XVI.?
?I won?t predict a round but I?m sure it won?t last12 rounds,? said the 26-year-old Fuentes, who is defending his OPBF crown against mandatory challenger Myung Ho Lee.
Record
Fuentes, 33-6-2 with 20 knockouts, is gunning for his 14th straight win in his fifth OPBF title defense. The 29-year-old Lee, 15-1 with five knockouts, is also unbeaten in his last 13 fights and is fighting his first outside of Japan.
?I?m ready for it to reach eight rounds but if I have a chance to knock him out I will go for it,? said the 23-year-old Villanueva. ?I will beat him with my stamina and I will pressure him.?
Villanueva, 19-0 with 12 knockouts, is taking on 44-year-old two-time world title challenger Pramuansak Posuwan, 45-4-1 with 24 knockouts.
