FORMER World Boxing Council super bantamweight champion Oscar “Chololo” Larios of Mexico appears to be the top choice among possible foes of Manny Pacquiao in a non-title appearance before his countrymen in May.
Pacquiao, according to sources, is willing and ready to co-promote with leading American network HBO the event, which will serve as his warm-up for a third encounter with Erik Morales of Mexico on Sept. 16.
Rafael Mendoza, who acts as Larios’ international agent, declared in an interview with the Mexican press that his ward is ready to face Pacquiao in May.
Larios won the WBC super bantam title in 2002 at the expense of Israel Vazquez and held it for three years.
