GOLDEN BOY AND SHOWTIME FINALIZING CHAMPIONSHIP QUADRUPLE-HEADER AT BARCLAYS CENTER ON OCTOBER 20

According to sources, it looks like the welterweight clash between IBF champion Randall Bailey and challenger Devon Alexander will be added to the Golden Boy Promotions card at the Barclays Center on October 20. Previously scheduled for this Saturday, September 8th, a back injury sustained by Bailey forced the postponement of the bout. Golden Boy Promotions immediately began exploring the possibility of rescheduling the bout for October 20 or October 27, but it looks like they’ve decided to add a little more star power to the debut boxing event at the new sports and entertainment venue.

The addition of Bailey vs. Alexander will make the card a championship quadruple-header, with major world titles on the line for all four bouts, which will be televised by Showtime. In the main event, undefeated WBC & WBA jr. welterweight champion Danny Garcia will defend his titles in a rematch with Mexican legend and future Hall of Famer Erik Morales. Although we have yet to confirm the official lineup of the fights, IBF welterweight champion Randall Bailey will likely be defending his title against former jr. welterweight champion and top contender Devon Alexander in the co-main event. Also featured on the card, Brooklyn’s own WBA welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi will defend his title against Pablo Cesar Cano, and undefeated middleweights Peter Quillin and Hassan N’Dam will battle for the WBO middleweight title.

This will be the second time in two months, and the third time this year, that Golden Boy Promotions has staged a quadruple-header for free on Showtime.
