Do, or die for Domingo

Aldeguer: Michael Domingo needs to win vs. Ugandan foe in Pinoy Pride XVII, or just retire

TO keep the dream alive, the boxer Michael Domingo has to keep on winning.

In the twilight of his rollercoaster boxing career that has spanned almost 13 years, the 33-year-old Domingo is still aiming at that elusive world title and in order for a shot, he has to remain unbeaten.

?He just has to keep winning until an offer for a world title fight comes along,? ALA Promotions president Michael Aldeguer told Sun.Star Cebu.

Lately, Domingo has been inconsistent and has lost two of his last four fights. Not to mention his inactivity, wherein he only fought five times in the past three years.

Aldeguer admitted that a loss could be detrimental to Domingo?s boxing career.

?Then he should retire and help the young fighters as trainer because he is very well respected as a person and a veteran fighter,? said the young promoter.

Following Domingo?s impressive first round knockout over journeyman Marvin Tampus in March, he disclosed to Sun.Star Cebu his plans after he hangs it up. And it is to help the young boxing hopefuls to achieve their dream of becoming world champions.

On Oct. 20, Domingo will once again enter the ring in a do-or-die bout against Ugandan prospect Mudde Ntambi Rabison at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, in one of the supporting bouts for the world title fight between AJ ?Bazooka? Banal and Thai Pungluang Sor Singyu for the vacant World Boxing Organization (WBO) bantamweight crown.

?It should be an interesting fight as we really don?t know where Michael is right now. This should answer the question if he should retire or he still has what it takes to win a world title,? said Aldeguer.

There will also be two other title bouts in the blockbuster ?Pinoy Pride XVII ? The Philippines vs. The World?.

Rey ?Boom-Boom? Bautista takes on Mexican Daniel Ruiz for the vacant WBO Internationl featherweight belt, while Jason Pagara defends his WBO International light welterweight strap against unbeaten Miguel Antoine of Barbados.
