– News filtered through recently that Manny Pacquiao is pushing his November 10 return date to December 1st, yet Floyd Mayweather is STILL not being looked into as an opponent.
Fine, we all can sadly expect that, I guess.
The December 1st date though conflicts with Miguel Cotto?s return to the ring as he is penciled in to fight at Madison Square Garden on that date.
It?s quite disturbing already that Pac Man and Money wont fight each other and they will even fight within one month of each other in the same venue, (May 1 and June 9 against Cotto and Bradley earlier this year), and now Pacquiao will be fighting on the same day as Cotto?
– Some actual good boxing new this week: Alfredo Angulo was released from an El Centro detention center, is still in America and plans to fight again after some immigration problems. A source had told me Angulo was already out for sometime, but his promoter, Golden Boy Promotions on Tuesday had a press luncheon to reintroduce ?Perro? back into the boxing game.

I chalk up the Kirkland loss to Angulo gassing himself out looking for the stop, and I think Angulo still has many rounds and wars to wage in the ring.
The same source also told me Team Angulo has also talked about the possibility of Robert Garcia or Joel Diaz as Angulo?s next trainer with Nacho Beristain out of the picture.
– Arthur Abraham fights this weekend, I think. I would still be interested in a Pavlik/Abraham scrap, but that may just be me?
– This week, Andre Berto was recently licensed to fight in California; this after being tested positive and having a planned fight scrapped IN California?
VADA was the agency who tested Berto, who most likely is just focused on getting their next fight and fighters to test. And that?s not a knock, because every business needs business, right?
What this just tells me is that we need, which we wont ever get, ONE governing body to hover over all businesses boxing, from the VADA?s, to the MUSADA?s (Mayweather United States Anti-Doping Agency) to all the sanctioning bodies that have titles from the WBC on down.
Until then, we just have a bunch of companies all fighting for their stake of currency out of the boxing game.
– Anthony Peterson was allowed to keep his IBF junior welterweight title and has Zab Judah listed as his mandatory. I think this was yet another decision by a company (IBF) who sees a semi-high profile match they can make to increase their horrid sanctioning fee.
– Just because it has been a slow August at the mainstream level, doesn?t mean that there aren?t club fights happening all around the nation. I will be attending my second fight of August here in Southern California on Friday, with another one scheduled that night 60 miles away, and there have been some happening in other counties close to my area of the Inland Empire.
So instead of waiting for the HBO?s and Showtime?s, I suggest you head on down to your local club-circuit fight.
You never know, a fight just might break out.
– After much heated disgust at the upcoming bout between Andre Ward and Chad Dawson, I am of the belief that one should be excited about the match up between two of the top players in the sport.
No one, trust me, no one, knows what is going to happen in a fight until that first bell rings.
Who knows what is going to happen in Oakland that night?
I know I don?t.

– A positive spin on the upcoming rival promoter showdown (read below) is this: For the first time in who knows how long, at least 20,000 fans (combined) will be in Las Vegas for a boxing card that does NOT feature either Manny Pacquiao or Floyd Mayweather.

Just how will I be able to do this? Will it work out? Just how in the heck do I plan to be in two places at once?
