He’s (0-3) with an * next to Manny Pacquiao’s name, however Roach is still win less in his last 3 championship fights. The once invincible Freddie Roach is fading faster than a washed up 40 year old prize fighter. Last night another Wild Card Gym guy, a Roach trained fighter, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr was beaten like a drum for 11 rounds. Yes, Chavez did catch Martinez late in the fight, but at the end of the day, he was destroyed for 11 rounds. Freddie Roach, once held as the top trainer in the world has had a terrible year. Even his prize horse Manny Pacquiao is beginning to fade. Pacquiao has been through the wars, so it’s no surprise that he’s slowing a bit, but when you take a look at Roach’ stable, it’s looking more and more like a damp, rainy, gloomy, day.

Perhaps with the current situation this will reduce the head sizes of some of those that run Wild Card Gym, and it will bring them back down to reality. Back in the day, Wild Card Gym used to be an uplifting, happy, humble place where people got together and all were looked at the same. With the rise of Manny Pacquiao, fame got into some heads and things changed. It’s still comical to me how photos and video are not allowed in a sweaty boxing gym. That’s another story for a different day.

Freddie Roach is now being questioned. He was just fired by Amir Khan. Who would have thought that would have happened a few years ago? Roach fired by a fighter? It used to be pretty much a slam dunk that if you ended up getting the service of Freddie Roach and Wild Card Gym, you were going to win. This is not the case anymore. I have said it before, Roach spread himself so thin that it did a dis-service to the fighters because they only get partial time.

One day Manny Pacquiao will retire, and when that happens the Wild Card Gym and the people who run that gym will all get a reality check. All of the journalists that were kicked out of the gym by Marie Spivey, and those who used to have access to Roach that no longer do, for stupid greedy reasons, will not soon forget how they were treated. Roach and Pacquiao will go into battle again Vs. Juan Manuel Marquez. If the judges are fair, and Marquez puts forth the same effort that he did Vs. Pacquiao as he did the last time he fought him, Roach may lose another big one. Then what?
