MANILA, Philippines?Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao arrived in Manila on Saturday morning, a week after his defeat to American Timothy Bradley.
Pacquiao arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2 around 6 a.m. aboard Philippine Airlines flight PR 103.
A welcome banner bearing the message, ?Welcome home Manny, ang aming kampeon (our champion),? greeted him at the airport.
He was also welcomed by former Manila Mayor Lito Atienza, among others.
In radio interviews early Friday, Pacquiao said he will proceed to his native Cagayan de Oro City on Sunday to help those affected by Tropical Storm Butchoy.
He thanked all his supporters who, he said, offered prayers for him to win the recent fight on the ring.
Pacquiao lost to Bradley in a split decision in a rounder-match June 9 in Nevada, USA. The controversial match ended Pacquiao?s remarkable seven-year unbeaten run.
Bradley has agreed to a rematch with Pacquiao scheduled in November this year.
