One day after Cathedral City?s Timothy Bradley won the WBO welterweight title bout, the fighter departed from Las Vegas in a wheelchair Sunday. Bradley ended Filipino fighter Manny Pacquiao?s remarkable seven-year unbeaten run, winning a split decision Saturday night.
Bradley won despite injuries that occurred both of his ankles during the fight Saturday night.
Bradley had injured his left foot in the second round, thinking he could have broken his ankle. Later in the fight, Bradley hurt his other ankle. At the post-fight press conference, Bradley was in a wheel chair before being taken to the hospital. When Bradley departed Sunday afternoon from the MGM Grand, he still remained in a wheel chair before boarding his personalized bus for the trip back to Cathedral City. Bradley manager Cameron Dunkin reported the right ankle was twisted and the left ankle has a fracture. On Sunday morning, Bradley said he would have an MRI on Monday. ?I felt a pop on the top of my foot. He said what do you want to do? You?re in the fight of your life, do you want to quit? I said No, we?ll have to go through it. ?That?s why in the middle of the rounds I was flat footed. I stood in front of Manny and that?s when he came on. But I was able to suck it up and kept moving. I was able to land some shots.?
