LAS VEGAS ? Tim Bradley put on his most menacing face during the traditional staredown on Friday afternoon following the official weighin, hoping he would send shivers down the spine of Manny Pacquiao.
Bradley thought he would succeed in gaining a psychological advantage over his heavily-favored Filipino foe as he sneered and scowled at Pacquiao while moving his head sideways.
Pacquiao, who has fought the biggest, baddest and hardest punchers in eight weight classes, just responded with a smile as the crowd of about 4,000 jeered Bradley?s antics and applauded Pacquiao?s gesture of not minding Bradley?s mean stare.
Pacquiao even motioned to his chest with his right hand, trying to look like he got afraid and even petrified by Bradley?s actions before breaking into a wide grin.
Pacquiao?s adviser Mike Koncz, who was within breathing distance of Pacquiao and Bradley tried to get what Bradley was saying ?but I could not tell if he was just moving his lips or saying something.?
Koncz said Bradley was too tight and even theorized that he was ?either feeling so much pressure or getting nervous.?
It was during the press conference on Wednesday that Bradley?s demeanor took a 180 degree turn.
A few months ago during their promotional tour in New York and Los Angeles, Bradley appeared light and loose and even went to the extent of clowning with Pacquiao during the numerous photo ops that they had.
Pacquiao had nothing to say about Bradley?s sudden turnaround and he hopes to utilize his fists to send the right message.
