Sure, PacMan misquoted, so always be wary

WHEN you are famous, almost everything you say is grist for news.

Media hounds are always on the hunt for the abnormal, for the not so run-of-the-mill.

But when it comes to the rich and famous, it?s free for all.

And to the rich and famous, everything is fair game.

Noynoy Aquino dating Grace Lee was Page 1 stuff.

Noynoy Aquino not dating Grace Lee anymore was, yes, Page 1 stuff, too.

There is that worn-out clich? that says, ?A dog biting a man isn?t news. But a man biting a dog is news.?

That?s true. Forever.

But when a dog bites a famously rich person, that?s an altogether different ballgame. That?s news.

Anything, or everything, that happens to the rich and famous, that the rich and famous do, is always potential news.

Even Kris Aquino crying a downpour over the death of her Mom, Tita Cory, is news.

That weird, indeed.

And when a famously rich person bites a dog, that?s not just news. That?s headline stuff all the time, as in Bill Gates biting his dog in anger, or Lucio Tan chasing an 18-year-old girl clad only in bikini on a beach. CNN will air it again and again and again.

Recently, boxing icon Manny Pacquiao said, ?If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable.?

He was roundly criticized for that, with the LGBTs (Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals and Transgenders) in the lead.

He also said, ?They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own hands.?

Pacquiao said all of that to the National Conservative Inquirer of America.

And nothing wrong there as Pacquiao was merely quoting the Bible.

But look, the LA Weekly in California headlined it this way: ?Manny Pacqiuao says gay men should be ?put to death.??

In his defense, Pacquiao said, ?I?m just reading from the Bible and that?s what the Bible says. And let me make myself clear that I have nothing against gay couples and I?m not certainly despising them as I have friends and relatives who are gays themselves.?

The Bible yet, again.

Doesn?t the devil quote the scriptures, too?

As the late Inday Badiday said, ?Careful, careful.?
