Three-time Philippine boxing champion Jimrex Jaca knocked out Mexican foe Geronimo Hernandez in the undercard fight of “The Battle” in Las Vegas Saturday night (Sunday morning in Manila), DZMM reported.
Jaca decked the Mexican twice in the first round, forcing the referee to halt the eight-round fight.
The fight ended 2:46 minutes of the first round.
ABS-CBN reporter Dyan Castillejo Garcia said nearly 50 percent of the audience at the Thomas and Mack Center were composed of Filipinos out to cheer for boxing icon Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao.
Pacquiao is set to slug it out with Mexican legend Erik “El Terible” Morales in the main fight of “The Battle.”
The Pacquiao-Morales tiff will be aired via satellite on ABS-CBN and Solar Sports at 10 a.m. Sunday.
