LOS ANGELES, California — Manny Pacquiao is back at the Wild Card Gym.
Despite crowds of fans and the hectic schedules that traditionally follow the Pacman, he says his newfound devotion to religion will help keep him disciplined during his preparations for the undefeated Timothy Bradley.
?I focus more focus more on training at ang confidence natin sa fight is 100%,? says Pacquiao.
Over the weekend, the boxing world was buzzing over an epic battle between potential opponent Floyd Mayweather Jr. and former foe Miguel Cotto.
Pacquiao and Top Rank CEO Bob Arum said they watched the fight.
?I thought the fight was a very good fight, I thought both guys worked hard, the fight proved to me beyond any doubt why Mayweather is ducking Pacquiao, it’s because Mayweather is unable to defend himself against left hands. And when you compare Miguel’s left hand against Manny’s natural left hand, it’s no contest,? says Arum.
As soon as Mayweather won the fight, the focus shifted once again to a potential showdown against Pacquiao with the undefeated American blaming Pacquiao’s refusals for drug testing and Arum for preventing the fight.
However, both Pacquiao and his promoter say there are other reasons for the failed negotiations.
?Willing naman tayo lahat para matuloy ‘yan… doon lang nagkakaano kasi gusto nya lamang s’ya gusto n’ya mas lamang s’ya sa sharing,? says Pacquiao.
?I didn’t have anything to do with the last negotiation because I knew he would blame it on me so I had Michael Koncz and Manny handle it directly. So there’s always with guys like Mayweather, the desire when they don’t want to do something to find an escape goat,? says Arum.
Any talk of a Pacquiao-Mayweather fight would also have to wait until the end of the year as Mayweather is scheduled to serve a 3-month prison sentence for domestic violence beginning next month.
