AFTER Tim Bradley, comes now Bob Arum.
Remember what Bradley said?
?I will give Manny Pacquiao a rematch after I beat him,? Bradley said.
All hype, you say?
But, of course!
How can Bradley be so sure of beating Pacquiao?
We are not even sure if the fight agreement they had signed contained a rematch clause.
Show us the proof, please?
Unwrap the documents!
But anyway, whether there is a provision of a rematch or not, Bradley boasting to the world he is giving Pacquiao a rematch is nothing but, well, hype. That simple.
Bradley, sure, knows his business, huh?
He is the underdog and yet, he seems to know the sheer importance of drumming up interest for the fight.
Sure, Bradley is unbeaten in 28 fights but that is no guarantee the fans will come on June 10 (Manila Time) to watch his fight with Pacquiao unfold at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.
This early, you think it will be a thrill?
I mean, it?d be a fight that will thrill us the way Pacquiao did against Diaz, Hatton and Cotto, a fight that will give us grim, gore and grime the way Pacquiao did against Barrera, Morales and Margarito?
Bradley?s unblemished record is no guarantee the fans will come in droves.
The guy hasn?t beaten topnotch fighters. Joel Casamayor, when Bradley dismissed him, was merely dismissing an old fogey, which was what Casamayor was in November when he was stopped by Bradley.
As always, it is Pacquiao, even though his record shows three defeats ? two of them by knockout ? who is the moneyman, the one light that automatically attracts the moths from as far as Zimbabwe.
Oh, yes, those two knockout losses.
They came when Pacquiao was still wet behind the ears, so to speak.
Carefree and careless were his other trademarks then besides the pulverizing power of his left fist.
But like all other great boxers before him, Pacquiao also quickly learned his lessons and picked himself so fast he?d proceed to collect eight world titles in no time.
Unprecedented.
So, don?t mind Arum when he warns that, in Bradley, Pacquiao is up against a tough foe.
All hype, I tell you.
