Pacquiao Preaches: Love Thy Enemy

MANILA, Philippines ? Manny Pacquiao isn?t exactly turning the other cheek for Floyd Mayweather to slap because the pound-for-pound king is not letting this latest incident pass.

A day after Mayweather went berserk upon his grand arrival in Las Vegas, insinuating once again that he will never face Pacquiao unless he agrees to Olympic-style drug testing, the Filipino fighter brushed off the newest wave of accusations.

?I am aware of Mayweather?s latest statements and those (statements) were derogatory,? Pacquiao said from his training camp in Baguio City as he gets ready for a June 9 showdown with Tim Bradley.

?My advisers and (American) lawyers are handling the matter and they will take appropriate legal recourse.?

Mayweather?s rants came as a shock to everyone at the MGM Grand where he is scheduled to meet Miguel Cotto in a world super-welterweight title fight on Saturday night (Sunday noon in Manila).

Nobody from among the reporters who were present at the holding area for VIPs didn?t say or whisper anything about Pacquiao but Mayweather suddenly came out swinging as if he saw a vision of Pacquiao or spotted somebody looking like him.

Mayweather renewed his verbal assault on Pacquiao, saying his huge success is a result of him being on performance-enhancing drugs.

Thousands of miles away in Baguio City, Pacquiao refused to retaliate in kind, stressing that he is leaving it all up to God.

?Let?s just pray for him,? said Pacquiao, who has been immersed in the teachings of the Bible the past six months.

Pacquiao had actually filed a defamation suit against Mayweather and a team of high-caliber lawyers are working on that case.

Pacquiao?s adviser Mike Koncz said Mayweather?s latest tirade will add up to the cost of damages they?re trying to get from the brash American fighter.

?Mayweather is just an insecure guy,? said Koncz, noting that Pacquiao?s Hennessy commercial has been playing out in between games in the NBA playoffs.
