Last night at the New Mexico City Arena in his native Mexico City, Juan Manuel Marquez put forth another professional performance in outclassing the Ukraine?s Sergey Fedchenko over twelve rounds. Scores of 119-109 and 118-110 twice were read in Marquez?s favor as he captured the interim WBO junior welterweight crown.
Next up for Marquez is likely a July 14th return to Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Dallas, Texas, but there is uncertainty on who the opponent will be. It was thought that former lightweight champion Brandon Rios would be getting the nod but nothing is for certain.
Last night Rios won a controversial split-decision over Richard Abril at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas on the same split-site pay-per-view show that Marquez was featured on.
