Tomorrow night these same promoters, Shaw, and Arum, will again go to the PPV well, this time with the Erik Morales-Manny Pacquiao rematch. And with the brand spanking new Wynn Hotel not yet having an arena, owner Steve Wynn has rented the almost 20,000 seat Thomas & Mack Arena on the University of Nevada at Las Vegas campus. Optimists feel that the fight will draw somewhere near 450,000 homes, I see the figure being closer to 300,000. That will be 50,000 less than their first fight of ten months ago.
TICKETS START AT $50 AND TOP OFF AT $500
Even though a $50 ticket can get you in the door, you must either be extremely proficient at moving up in value, which means down in seats, or bring a pair of field glasses to really watch the action. With ringside seats still available in groups of eight, there might be some papering of the house. As for a live gate, if they got 12,000 paid, everybody would be ecstatic.
