Self proclaimed king of pay per view, Floyd Money Mayweather aims to prove one more time his marketability and his boxing skills when he gets in the ring on May 5th to challenge WBA super welterweight champion from Puerto Rico, Miguel Cotto. HBO PPV will broadcast the event live from MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. HBO management loves Floyd Mayweather because ratings go up thirty percent when Floyd is involved in HBO’s famed documentary 24/7. Aside from 24/7 HBO will air Max Kellerman’s Face off between Floyd Mayweather and Miguel Cotto beginning on April 4th as part of the promotional campaign for May 5th showdown. ?Can you please explain why Floyd Mayweather was so respectful towards Cotto during Max’s Face off?” inquired Dave the Barber forgetting to greet me:” It was almost as if somebody completely different was inside Floyd’s body talking, respectful and complimentary of his opponent, polite and outright nice. Is this a new strategy or did Mayweather finally mature?”
” There is an easy explanation to your question,” roared Big Steve:” Money Mayweather uses the Golden Rule of Life – Treat other people the same way you wish to be treated, only Floyd uses this rule in reverse; if his opponent is smooth, as he puts it, then everything will go smooth, if his opponent wants to get crazy than things will get out of control. I think Floyd beat Victor Ortiz way before they got into the ring by getting in his head during press tour. It’s a completely different story with Cotto who is a total pro in and out of the ring. The Puerto Rican champion is stoic; he can’t be rattled by trash talk or any talk. Knowing that in advance, Floyd decided to be respectful.”
?I wouldn’t start kissing Floyd’s ass quite yet,” exclaimed Al the Barber:” If you ask me, this was just an act; if you can’t kill him with words kill him with kindness. What did Mayweather say? I think he called Cotto a quiet killer. Floyd still found a way to disrespect Cotto. Did you see him talking about his outrageous bets and then getting his security to bring him a phone to check the score during the show? That’s not just disrespectful, that’s downright rude. The only thing, Cotto could care less, no matter what Mayweather pulled. Cotto just acted like it was absolutely no big thing and joined in the conversation. The Puerto Rican champ plans to do all his talking in the ring.”
” Listen to you old dogs bark,” cried out Downtown Ronnie Brown:” Are we talking about chicanery at the Royal Court or about two prizefighters getting ready to go to battle on May 5th. May be, just may be Floyd is happy to get the best possible opponent in the absence of Pacquiao. Cotto is a big draw, all on his own. That means more money for Floyd who is in a check cashing business. Acting like a true professional Cotto had no problems with taking a test. Why wouldn’t Floyd be happy and act respectful?”
