MOST of ABS-CBN regular programs will not go on air on Sunday to give way to the giant network’s coverage on the much-awaited Manny Pacquaio-Erik Morales rematch in Las Vegas, Nevada.
ABS-CBN Davao manager Andy Rara made the announcement in Thursday’s Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at the Tower Inn.
“Even the local Gikan sa Masa, Para sa Masa program of Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, which is being aired at 10 a.m. every Sundays, will also give way to the Pacquiao-Morales fight as it is a general public interest,” Rara said.
He said ABS-CBN and Solar Sports coverage will only cover two preliminary bouts and the main event.
“There will be a Hataw Pacquiao pre-fight coverage at 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. followed by the fight proper at 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. including undercards and the rematch of Pacquiao and Morales,” he said.
Rara added that a post-fight coverage is set at 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. then the replay will be at 10 p.m.
“Regular programs will resume by 4 p.m. The programs affected by the coverage will resume on schedule next Sunday,” he said.
Giant wide screens will also be put up in strategic places in Gaisano Mall of Davao, NCCC Mall and Victoria Plaza to allow more Dabawenyos witness the fight.
Meanwhile, The Marco Polo and SM City Davao Cinema 5 will show live feed of the coverage. SM tickets are pegged at P300 each.
