Moments ago inside of the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada, undefeated lightweight contender Mercito ?No Mercy? Gesta improved his overall record to 25-0-1 with 13 knockouts with a systematic and patient 8th round TKO over Columbian journeyman Oscar Cuero.
Gesta?s attack was calculated from the outset and he slowly began breaking down Cuero with quick and stringing shots from all angles, registering knockdowns in rounds seven and eight. Cuero was in survival mode for much of the fight and the end result seemed inevitable.
After the fight Gesta mentioned that he is still interested in a showdown with Juan Manuel Marquez, a fight that had initially been rumored for Cowboys Stadium in Dallas, Texas for July 14th.
