MANILA, Philippines ? Manny Pacquiao is not leaving any stone unturned in his quest to put on a show of force against Tim Bradley on June 9.
Pacquiao is recalling conditioning coach Alex Ariza from the US so they could begin the pre-conditioning program in time for the start of training camp on April 16 in Baguio City for the defense of his World Boxing Organization welterweight crown at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
?Alex is arriving soon because I want to get warmed up before we head off to Baguio,? Pacquiao said on Friday after taping a few episodes of his weekly gameshow on GMA 7 in Cebu.
Pacquiao will actually do a couple more of live shows while he is in the City of Pines in time for his departure for Los Angeles in the first week of May for the final phase of his training.
?I will be running and doing light workouts in the next few weeks because it?s hard to start training by not warming up first,? said Pacquiao, who has declared that he is on the twilight of an illustrious career.
?A few more fights then that?s it,? said Pacquiao, who turns 34 in December.
After Bradley, Pacquiao wants to do two or three fights more before calling it quits, citing that he is heeding his family?s advice so he cannot only devote more time to his political career and family but to Bible-preaching as well.
Still, Pacquiao is hoping that one of the remaining fights would come against Floyd Mayweather but certainly won?t lose sleep if such a heavenly matchup doesn?t get made by the time he announces his retirement after almost 20 years of fighting.
Efforts have been made to put together a fight between the two claimants to the mythical title of pound-for-pound king but all of these went down the drain owing to a number of issues, most of which is the revenue sharing.
