LAS VEGAS, Nevada — With the boxing gloves issue finally settled, Manny Pacquiao and Erik “El Terible” Morales faced the media yesterday at the Wynn hotel here for the final press conference of this Saturday’s big rematch (Sunday in Manila) at the Thomas and Mack Center at the University of Las Vegas.
“Both of us will give you a great fight,” Pacquiao said in English, the only boxer to speak the language at the podium. “I thank all my people, my team, and the President of my country for their support.”
Trainer Freddie Roach also indicated that Pacquiao will be at his best and there will be no excuses after the fight.
“We’re ready for Saturday,” Morales said through an interpreter. “It’s going to be a difficult fight.”
Nevada State Athletic Commission chair Marc Ratner told the Inquirer earlier that Morales’ camp has decided to go back to using Morales’ favorite Winning gloves, while Pacquiao will use Cleto Reyes, the punchers’ gloves.
