Moments ago at the Events Center inside of the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada, former lightweight champion Brandon ?Bam Bam? Rios again came in overweight ahead of his duel tomorrow night with Cuba?s Richard Abril.
Rios was looking to make the lightweight limit of 135 pounds in an attempt to gain back the WBA belt he used to hold but came in weighing 137 pounds. It is unclear whether or not he will take two hours and try to shed the extra pounds or simply try to push forward with the fight with Abril, who would likely have to take some kind of financial cut from Rios? purse if he were to be persuaded to move forward which such a scenario.
Rios lost his WBA belt last December when he came in .6 pounds over the limit at the weigh-in for his bout with Manchester?s John Murray in December.
As for Abril, he came in at 135 pounds on the dot. Expect more news from today?s weigh-in as word comes in.
