Earlier today in Los Angeles, California, newfound rivals Richard Abril and Brandon Rios again got into a bit of a scuffle in a press conference for their upcoming fight Saturday night.
This was the second altercation between the two men, as they traded barbs and nearly blows in Miami last month in a press conference that was meant to promote Rios? then-scheduled bout with Cuban stalwart Yuriorkis Gamboa. When Gamboa decided to no-show on the presser, Abril added some spice to the festivities by baiting and shoving Rios, an act that may have helped him land the fight against the former champion weeks later.
So when Rios and Abril had to be separated again today, it was no real surprise. The fisticuffs that matter most will take place this coming weekend inside of the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.
And for Rios, he is determined not to let Abril steal the spotlight as he has done the past few pressers.
“No unheard of fighter like Abril will ever beat me,? stated Rios. ?He’s going to go down and go down real hard. In the boxing world Abril is in the darkness and I plan to keep him there. I haven’t forgotten what he did to me in Miami. He’s going to pay big-time for that.”
