Recently ESPN reported that pound for pound king Manny Pacquiao could be facing jail time. I have been reporting right here on Examiner for close to a year now that Pacquiao’s financial situation behind the scenes is a mess.

I would however caution those reading this, and those who have the tendency to bash on Manny, to wait and see how this all plays out before saying the man is guilty of anything.
If you remember correctly, Pacquiao hired VisionQwest to come in and check out his books earlier in 2011. VQ did in fact find several issues, and were subsequently fired for their efforts. When this happened, it raised many eyebrow’s across the boxing scribe world.
VP of VisionQwest, Michael Lodge sent out press releases telling the world that the company did in fact find issues with Manny’s finances. Shortly after that the company was fired.
If there is one thing that I have learned throughout my time covering Manny Pacquiao, is that the majority of those who circle the man should not be trusted. Only a selected few should be trusted.
Another thing I have learned is, included with the people that shouldn’t be trusted, are some of the business types that are in his circle.
Manny should not be stamped as a guilty man until the facts come out. Right now they don’t even have enough evidence to bring the case to a court.
If the man is indeed in tax trouble, I would not be one bit surprised. Pacquiao is too nice, and he trusts WAY too many people. I hope the best for the man, he’s too good a person to get mixed up on the wrong side of the law.
