We’ve got some dandies here for the much anticipated January 21st showdown between Erik Morales and Manny Pacquiao, and one fan asks what my thoughts are about the ballyhoo over Reyes gloves Vs the Winning ones.

Hi, howz it goin’. My question is whom should Mayweather fight next? I was all geared up to see a showdown with him and Zab, but that’s out of the question now. Since Mayweather been collecting Wbc titles in practically every weight division, is Baldomir is next.

Don’t forget that PBF went after Genaro “Chicanito” Hernandez’s WBA junior lightweight title at 130 to start things off, not just WBC belts. And let me tell you something about that division, it was heralded when Mayweather won as the world category without question, just like the acclaimed Ben Villaflor’s and Sammy Serrano’s of their heyday. His uncle Roger also won that same belt.
I’d say about now that Floyd would be in the multiplex business of collecting buckles, wouldn’t you? He could fight just about anybody of his choosing.
What might ensue is a challenge that he finds both lucrative and certifiable enough to head for greatness. Other than, that I don’t see him waiting idly by for a host of welterweights hashing it out in admonishment to be in turn waiting to be fighting him. I just think that gets too boring for someone like Floyd to do, you know? What can happen is for Floyd to take a tune up at a higher weight to keep busy with a fighter both the networks and the fight fans really want to see.
Why is Morales angry with Pacquiao about the press conference?

Don’t know. Might be he wants to give them something to think of like he’s mad when he really isn’t. But if they’d gotten under his skin a bit and caused him to, then they’ve done some work. I don’t think Erik’s mad at the world though.
If MP will lose George, do you think he will retire? I believe if MP will lose he should go on and must beat Barrera and Marquez and challenge Harrison or Chi and then fight Morales again. That would be a nice trilogy.

You know maybe who knows if he’ll retire afterward should he win against Morales, then comes out of retirement to fight JM Marquez for fight number two? There’re too many fights right now for him to logically retire, but if he wins he just might to think over some of the offers out there afforded him.

I realize back in the day mostly every newspaper or article written would have the time slots of reference, and today most just say – ‘check your local time or local listings.’
Have you checked TV Guide lately? They’ve given in for the digital screen.
Funny you asked me that though. I once took a trip as a youngster to the U.N. building and was impressed with the clocks up on the wall that had every time zone you could possibly think of, a few years later I found an old neighborhood shoemaker who had a dozen of them up hanging with the very same thing. I just thought it was really neat to be able to tell time everywhere.
I think Judah beats Floyd by a big KO.

But if he doesn’t trip Pretty Boy Floyd up into that prognostication, what will Zab do if he doesn’t get to? In the paint of the trenches Judah has to extend some to find Floyd, and believe me I just don’t feel he can win without it.
If Manny wins…there will be a rematch between him & champ, Barrera… what if he loses? Is there also a rematch?

Though Manny’s trainer Roach has said they’ve been eyeing Barrera before as an option, that fight would be the culmination for both their careers and should wait. Let’s first get by Morales before looking into Marco Antonio shall we?
George I have a trivia question for you. During the 1920s was the lightweight champion Benny Leonard ever knocked out of the ring?

Benjamin Leiner (Benny Leonard) was rocked in the fifth by a left; knocking Benny clear out of the ring by Charley White defending his crown July 5th 1920; however the challenger Charley not being able to finish him; Leonard climbed back into the ring and had White succumbing via kayo in 9.
They say Benny was knocked down a total number of five times that night, Leonard retaining his Lightweight title in Benton Harbor, Michigan.
I guess so much is at stake with the rematch for both fighters. Another loss by Pacquiao will be devastating and Morales, much much more devastating. Give me your thoughts.

What’s at stake was the loss Morales had with Z-Man Raheem until now, and with a Pacquiao victory things should be going a lot smoother for him. However, he just can’t look too far ahead and be concerned with the past. Right about now Manny is in another unique position favoring his favorite gloves for a road to test what he’s always said all along in not using pillow pads like in his first fight with Morales.
I wouldn’t say that this fight could hurt either one of them at all, not by the slimmest of margins; particularly when you’ve got Erik yet to rematch against Raheem; and with Pacquiao who can still fight one other weight division that could ignite excitement. I absolutely disagree with the assessment that these fighters will be ruined in any manner.
What two champions that you know of had shared an October month with one losing and the other fighter winning? They fought same dates. One was yet to be champ and the other guy was the champ that time. Who were they and what happened George?

You’re a riddled wonder, but that’ll have to be Ali’s pro debut October 29th 1960 against Tunney Hunsaker (W 6) Louisville, and the Light Heavyweight Champion of the world Archie Moore losing (L 10) in a non-title match to the Italian Guilio Rinaldi, Rome, and they both shared those identical dates with year.

I am very excited about the upcoming rematch of Erik and Manny on the 21st. As we all know, Erik won the first one… What do you think the chances of Manny in this fight? Erik change his Trainer, is there a big effect in his chances of winning? Lastly, what do you know about the difference of Reyes Cleto Gloves and Winning Gloves, they have the same weight right?

I see no problems with any distractions going in. At this particular time in Erik’s career it isn’t uncommon for a change of venue, a trainer, or something. All Erik has to do is prepare adequately and to demonstrate it.
On the gloves, similar in ounces aren’t always leading to the means necessarily to be so equalized. For example boxing gloves for Morales or vice versa for Pacquiao do have their advantages… but that’s been to the similarities end. Look at Reyes ones that can slice or dice if you had old scar tissues that can be reopened, whereas ‘Winning’ ones as comforted boxing gloves built for speed. One just feels better to the other one varying from fighters to the next and makes hardly much difference at all except for the user.
I will tell you this though; neither is in any which way or form nearest the Castanet gloves Mexico brought imported from Spain; which were butchers conventions that could cut tissue upon impact connecting with one solitary solid punch to the bone! Those got banned during the Salvador Sanchez era, and still would have been used today if only not so many fighters had gotten cut.
Imagine taking one well-placed punch squarely on the chin to save from incoming further carnages of that magnitude sustaining injuries each would have had to endure? All I can say about Manny is he’d better be ready naming his own poison of choice, and may the best man win. However, I just feel that Erik not exemplifying living by the point of the sword doesn’t necessitate somehow for him in not using it, and that’s not a bad thing.
