Floyd ”Money” Mayweather the undefeated mega money making prizefighter will soon be stepping into the ring to face Puerto Rico’s very own Miguel Cotto. Most say that Floyd will prevail, and in doing so he would retain his undefeated record. A win over Cotto would certainly be good news for the current undisputed middleweight champ Sergio Martinez.
Martinez rallied last night Vs. Irish brawler Matthew Macklin and ended up stopping him in the 11th round. Macklin put forth a game effort but the champ did what champs do, he got the job done. So how would Sergio Martinez do against Floyd Mayweather Jr?
Martinez has yet to have captured mainstream America. He’s got star quality, but he has not landed that big money fight. Recently Lou DiBella, who currently promotes Martinez has reportedly gone on the record and said that he would put his horse in there Vs. Mayweather for an 80/20 split. He Knows that if his guy, Martinez, can defeat Mayweather the sky is the limit.Martinez is a fast fighter, really quick reflexes, and very good timing. Mayweather brings speed as well, great defense, and very good timing. It’s an interesting match up if and when the two ever fight.
Martinez would have to get down to 150lbs, which would be interesting in itself. The weight could always be an issue one way or the other.
