Pacquiao says he’s now OK after injury scare

LOS ANGELES, California — Manny Pacquiao said he had felt pain in his left arm after a heavy workout here but he did not let it hamper his training.

“Masakit, muscle pain, pero OK na lahat (It hurts, but everything’s okay now),” he told the Inquirer after completing his afternoon gym regimen yesterday.

Pacquiao assured everything was fine in his preparation for the second encounter against Erik Morales on Jan. 21.

There were reports Pacquiao had strained his left forearm after it accidentally hit the head of a sparmate.

But Dr. Nasser Cruz, who confirmed the strain, said Pacquiao has recovered phenomenally.

“If it had happened to an older fellow, it would have taken longer to heal,” Cruz said. “But Manny is strong, young and takes a lot of supplements.”

Pacquiao winds up sparring here Monday morning before motoring to Las Vegas in a convoy in the afternoon.

Handlers said he was expected to complete 130 rounds of sparring in preparation for his no-tomorrow battle with Morales.
