Last night in Houston, Texas, rising star Danny Garcia outhustled the great Erik Morales to pull out a decision win while also capturing the WBC junior welterweight championship of the world in an HBO showcase. The 35-year old Morales has had some memorable battles over time but it looks like he may be coming to the end of his road while Garcia will be eyeing bigger duels.
On the undercard, Austin’s James Kirkland struggled against Chicago?s Carlos Molina in a junior welterweight attraction and looked to be on his way towards a loss. In a bizarre twist, Molina, who was knocked down at the end of the tenth round, was also disqualified when one of his corner men entered the ring before his count had finished.
Molina and his team are said to be protesting the loss while fans shake their head in disbelief at how they were again robbed of a conclusive ending to a fight that was starting to heat up.
