Floyd Mayweather Jr. labels Pacquiao, Margarito cheaters ahead of Cotto clash

Earlier today in San Juan, Puerto Rico, undefeated superstar Floyd Mayweather came face to face with his next ring foe, WBA junior middleweight champion Miguel Cotto. The brash Mayweather tests himself against Cotto on May 5th inside of the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada on HBO pay-per-view.

And while Mayweather hasn?t been too dismissive towards Cotto during the lead up to their fight, he did take a chance at the opening press conference to throw some dirt at the only two men to have defeated Miguel; Antonio Margarito and Manny Pacquiao.

Margarito handed Cotto his first loss as a professional three and a half years ago when he overcame an early lead before carving out an 11th round stoppage. Margarito was later caught with plaster-caked hand inserts prior to his following bout with Shane Mosley, a horrific loss, and an asterisk was placed over his previous victories.

Pacquiao thoroughly trounced Cotto in November of 2009, dropping the Puerto Rican in rounds three and four on his way towards a 12th round TKO scalp, but there have been a select group under the belief that the Filipino icon has been under the use of performance-enhancing drugs in recent years.

So while Mayweather was on stage to address the importance of the Cotto showdown, he again made headlines of his own.

?It takes hard work, dedication, prayers, belief, and a good team,? said Mayweather of his secrets to success. ?One man has to rise to the occasion and that will be me. Floyd Mayweather is not a cheater like Antonio Margarito and Manny Pacquiao. Hard work, hard work, hard work.?

Mayweather and Cotto will next head to New York for tomorrow’s presser, kicking off at 1 PM/ET.
