Earlier today in New York City, the world?s recognized middleweight champion Sergio Martinez weighed in ahead of his bout with Birmingham’s Matthew Macklin tomorrow night inside of The Theatre at Madison Square Garden. Martinez came in at 157.6 pounds for the HBO-televised duel while Macklin came in at 158 pounds.
Martinez has mentioned that he is eyeing a move back down to 154 pounds after his business with Macklin is settled and all indications show it is a move that he should be able to pull off, given how easily he scan still make the middleweight limit. There are more lucrative encounters awaiting him in the junior middleweight division but he must take care of Macklin first.
