Orlando Salido TKO 10 Juan Manuel Lopez
Mexican warrior Orlando Salido summoned a monstrous effort to batter and knockout hometown favourite Juan Manuel Lopez in the tenth round moments ago in Puerto Rico as seen live on Showtime. It marked just the second loss of the highly regarded Lopez?s career after Salido stopped him in a shocking 2011 upset. This time around Salido was in charge from the outset and worked at a furious rate to take the fight to Juanma. Lopez moved well but was unable to avoid Salido?s big right hand which landed early and often. Salido pulled out to an early lead but was dropped by a counter punch in the closing moments of the fifth. Despite being hurt the durable Mexican got up and continued to press the action in the middle rounds. To his credit a brave and proud Lopez continued to press forward despite being beaten up and out-landed and in the ninth round threw everything left he had in the take. The result was one of the greatest rounds of boxing seen in recent years. Shortly after the bell rang for Round 10 Salido landed a telling right hand on an exhausted Juanma that hurt him badly. The followup shots dropped him hard and while he made it to his feet the referee wisely waived the bout off. Salido retained the WBO title with the sensational win and improved to 38-11-2 (26 KOs) while the once surging Lopez drops to 31-2 (28 KOs).
