Money May vs. Miguel Cotto- Cinco De Mayo at the Mgm Grand in Las Vegas is where you want to be. Money Mayweather will take on the Boriqua Bomber. I really deep down feel that at 154, Cotto brings forth a stern test for Money May. Let?s be real with ourselves, Sergio Martinez can not make 154 comfortably so we can all stop dreaming about Martinez being able to make 150 or 147. If Martinez was able to make that weight, Martinez would be fighting at 154 and facing the Mayweather, Cotto, and Pacquiao?s of the world instead of fighting the Macklins and Barkers for pesos. Mayweather deserves major props for taking on Cotto at 154 opposed to making Cotto dry out to 150 or lower. Cotto deserves much props as well for taking on this challenge, Cotto could have easily asked for Canelo, but why face the hate later when you can face the most hated man in the sport now for big bucks? Both Cotto and Mayweather are daring to be great and you got to respect that. As for Pacquiao, Pacquiao will probably end up facing Timothy Bradley. That fight at first sight looks to be boring, but it will be a shootout, Bradley will push Pacquiao over the edge. I will explain how later if the fight gets made and as we get closer. Marquez may face Lamont Peterson, very good fight.
Victor Ortiz, left without a date- We were all supposed to see Victor Ortiz go at it with Andre Berto a week and a half from now, but now that Berto was forced to pull out of the fight due to a ruptured bicep, Victor Ortiz now finds himself without a dance partner. As of right now, the plan is to find out exactly how long it will be until Berto is allowed to begin training again. Maybe then will this re-match then take place, until then, Ortiz can either surf in the meantime as his fight against Berto gets re-scheduled, or Ortiz can demand to face either Amir Khan, Robert Guerrero, Paulie Malignaggi, or the Maidana/Alexander winner for a later date. Ortiz may be mentally immature, but the kid has many options.
Will Chavez Jr. taste defeat?- This weekend on HBO, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. will face Marco Antonio Rubio at the Alamo Dome in San Antonio. I?m expecting for there to be at least 10-12,000 strong cheering on for their man. Most fans going to the fight will more than likely be Chavez Jr. supporters, but will those fans be in for a big dissapointment? Rubio is a very live dog in this fight, I see Rubio returning the type of fire that Chavez Jr. may not be anticipating. The fact that Chavez Jr. did not show up for media day a few days ago may already be telling us what to expect. Maybe it?s mind games, maybe it?s weight issues, whatever it is, it?s sure to present itself come Saturday night.
Donaire will beat Vasquez Jr. and will do it in dominating fashion. I?m not even going to go into details with it. This fight will be a Jesse James type of shootout, fastest man to the trigger wins.
