Jan 24, 2012 – A good friend of mine, long-time promoter Don Chargin once stated to me… if both fighters truly want to fight each other, the fight will be made.
I believe that BOTH Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. want to fight each other on May 5th, 2012 based on statements made by both men on video and on record.
I also don?t believe Manny Pacquiao to be a blatant liar.
When someone informed him that the fight between himself and Floyd Mayweather Jr. on May 5, 2012 in Las Vegas was 80 to 90 percent done last year and that the minor details just needed to be ironed out, I believe that Manny merely regurgitated that information to the press.
The big question now is… Who was that person that informed him that the fight was all but close to being finalized?
It definitely wasn?t his promoter Bob Arum.
Michael Koncz operates as Manny Pacquiao?s advisor and has taken the lead road as the representative for Team Pacquiao in the ?negotiations? with Floyd Mayweather Jr. for a May 5th fight. Koncz apparently visited the Mayweather gym in Las Vegas on November 23, 2011 to initiate discussions with Floyd at Pacquiao?s request.
Six days later on November 29, 2011, Floyd Mayweather Jr. would publicly state on video to Fighthype.com, ?Sign the contract, I?m waiting.?
Seven days later on November 30, 2011, the ?Pacman? would inform Jay Dayupay from ABS-CBN News that the fight was almost done and said, ?once he signs the contract (referring to Floyd) then I?ll sign the contract.?
So apparently both sides had been informed that a contract had been drafted up and that there had already been an agreement to ALL the details of the fight including purse split, venue, date, ring, gloves, ticket allocation, etc.
For a fight of this magnitude… there is no such thing as a blank contract my friends. And don?t give me that shit about signing a contract in good faith in order to even begin discussions… that?s asinine.
So based on the fact that Koncz was the one taking the lead on discussions and the fact that Koncz was the ONLY form of semi-direct communication between both fighters, he informed both Manny AND Floyd that both sides were on the same page and that a contract would be drafted in order to proceed with the fight.
Then… nothing.
December 17, 2011 Manny Pacquiao would make a statement from his home in General Santos that he?d be willing to take a lesser cut in order to make the fight a reality. It seemed at this point, the contract that had been supposedly drafted was still yet to be signed by either man.
Why?
Why would a contract that both men apparently had agreed upon fail to be signed? That question needs to be answered by Michael Koncz who is conveniently saying absolutely nothing right now to the press due to his ?loyalty? to Floyd… give me a FUCKING break.
If he was supposedly staying mum on the situation, why the FUCK would he go to the associated press stating that a May 5th date would not work for the fight on January 12, 2012 due to some horrific notion that a stadium needed to be constructed?
Another very important aspect of all of this is… why would Floyd Mayweather Jr. go out of his way to speak directly to Manny Pacquiao over the phone who is located in the Phillippines regarding the situation? Obviously there is a disconnect in communication over what exactly is taking place regarding the contract, negotiations, and the date of May 5th.
Unfortunately I’m not so sure that Koncz was telling both sides the same thing regarding the details of the fight. There is a possibility that he told Floyd that Pacquiao had agreed to less than parity which Floyd agreed to while telling Pacquiao that he was pushing for 50-50 for the fight that Manny in-turn agreed to knowing that this would break the fight down the road when the pressure was on. The writing is on the wall.
Koncz has been the facilitator of the blockage by Bob Arum.
The boxing media is so weak and flimsy by nature that all they say is, ?The fight is never going to happen.?
?If Bob Arum doesn?t want the fight to happen, it won?t happen.?
I get that but it?s up to the media and press to strip away all barriers to this fight being blocked and educate the public as to exactly why the fight is not taking place.
Floyd wants it.
Manny wants it.
Who is blocking it and more importantly how did they go about blocking it when a contract was supposed to have been drafted last November?
Can somebody from the Associated Press ask Michael Koncz that? Apparently he has no issue talking to you guys right now.
PS. Personally I don?t care if this fight happens or not. Boxing is alot bigger then this bout itself. I?m just bored and tired of seeing a spineless boxing media fail to push hard for a fight they have been emotionally bitter over since 2009. The fans of the sport deserve better and deserve this fight.
