Late into the Tuesday evening, former WBO junior featherweight champion Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. hit San Antonio, Texas ahead of his showdown this Saturday night with Nonito Donaire. Vazquez faces the Fil-Am star at the Alamodome on HBO?s airwaves, with the same WBO belt he used to hold again being at stake.
Donaire is a heavy favorite heading into the fight, as Vazquez saw his stock drop last year when he was upset by the always-game Jorge Arce inside of the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. Still, the 27-year old packs a heavy punch and shouldn?t be overlooked.
The closer the fight has gotten, the more people have started to hint that an upset may be in the works, as this marks Donaire?s first fight at the junior featherweight class, plus Vazquez seems to be coming in with something to prove.
