Bob Arum’s statements came out earlier today in an interview with my boxingscene.com editor Rick Reeno saying his side of the table regarding the frustrating Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather saga is ready and simply waiting on the Mayweather camp to get their acts together.
“We are locked and ready to go. I can’t say the same for the other side, because I don’t know what arrangements have been made because I’m not privy to that. And indeed I don’t even know if [Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard] Schaefer is involved. I sort of gather that he is so frantic with everybody and so forth, that he is not involved. Because unlike Top Rank, that has a contract with Manny, we are involved. I don’t know if Schaefer is involved,” Arum told Rick Reeno of boxingscene.com.
In response, Mayweather took to Twitter and called out Arum’s recent set of statements.

Mayweather then followed up with a couple more “tweets” further taking shots at Pacquiao and Arum’s excuses and comments against him.
“January 16th was Dr. Martin Luther King Birthday January 17th is Muhammad Ali Birthday and May 5th is Pacquiao ass whooping day”
“First They say I’m Ducking the Fight. But now it seems like I’m begging for the fight.. What is going on?”

Now that Mayweather has set the record straight that he does have a purse guarantee and that Golden Boy Promotions’ Richard Schaeffer and Al Haymon represent him, will Arum finally genuinely pursue this fight? Or will he come up with new excuses?
Pacquiao has openly said that he wants to fight Mayweather and is his first priority. The cuts and the new stadium excuses won’t stick. Arum is making Pacquiao look bad with all his stories. On Mayweather’s part though, he better quit with the PED BS and do his part in fascilitating with the negotiations if he truly wants Pacquiao on May 5th as well.
It’s time to start negotiating and quit with the media manipulation, the “tweeting” and what have you. I still believe Arum and Mayweather are on some BS and do not truly intend to have this fight happen on May 5th, but boxing fans DEFINITELY deserve better.
The ball is definitely on Arum’s court. What say you Mr. Harvard lawyer?
