DODIE Boy Pe?alosa Jr. will once again be showcased in Metro Manila as he takes on South Korean Jon Wung Jung on Jan. 28 at the Recom Dome in Caloocan City.
Dodie Boy Jr., the son of two-division world champion Dodie Boy Pe?alosa Sr., debuted in Metro Manila in 2010 and after two years he will once again showcase his talent against his second foreign opponent.
Dodie Boy Jr. has so far lived up to his family name and has logged an impressive 7-0 record, with seven knockouts. Dodie Boy Jr. was billed as one of the most promising young prospects, but he was humbled after suffering the first knockdown of his career against journeyman Donriel Marcos last Oct. 10. Dodie Boy Jr. somehow mustered enough strength and regained his composure to win a third-round technical knockout.
The 24-year-old Jung, on the other hand, isn?t as impressive as his Filipino counterpart with a 4-4-1 slate. He has also lost his last three fights.
Unbeaten Marvin Mabait challenges RP super flyweight titleholder Rey Perez in a 12-round title clash in the co-main event.
The 24-year-old Mabait is facing one of his toughest opponents to date in the 21-year-old Perez, who won the RP crown just last year with a split decision over Danilo Pena.
Perez also won the World Boxing Organization Asia-Pacific Youth flyweight crown last year and suffered his first defeat, also last year, in the hands of former world champion Nobuo Nashiro by unanimous decision in Japan.
Perez is 13-1 with two knockouts, while Mabait is 15-0-2 with 10 knockouts.
In the undercard, veteran former world title contender Sonny Boy Jaro (32-10-5, 22 KOs) takes on tough Jayson Rotoni (12-11-1, 7 KOs) in a 10-round bout; undefeated 19-year-old Ren Ren Tesorio (9-0, 2 KOs) trades leathers with Baby Marfil Jr. (1-3-2); Dodie Boy Sr.?s other son Dave Pe?alosa (1-0) is up against debut fighter Jeffrey Parajora; and Aldren Guara (2-1-1, 2 KOs) faces off with newcomer Larry Ibarra (0-0-1).
